Last weekend I asked my boyfriend which model he thinks I should fold next. So he browsed through my books and declared he wanted a "Black Forest Cuckoo Clock" (designed by Robert Lang - see his fold). Yes, I screamed inside - I'd never attempted it because of the extraodinary aspect ratio of the initial sheet. That's 1 by 10, suggested size 16cm by 160 cm or 8 by 80 inches (as stated in the book).
So I started cutting paper - yeah, and cut off 1.5cm too much. I couldn't be bothered to cut the paper again, so I decided to change the design a bit (a slightly shorter pendulum) to balance out my mistake. And after about 5 1/2 hours of folding, this is the result. Ok for a first fold, I think, and probably worth another fold.
Initial paper size: 20cm x 198.5cm (approx. 8in x 80in)
Finished model: 30cm x 15cm x 5cm (approx. 12in x 6in x 2in)

Awsome!
I would never be able to get the model that good on the first try, so that is an awsome result if you take into consideration that this is your first time folding it.
Awsome job Sara!

Paper?
What kind of paper did you use for folding this model? Where could i get it?

Packaging paper
I used packaging paper that I got in a post office. You know, the stuff that you might wrap parcels with. It's not great paper, but at least I could get a long roll of it to avoid gluing several sheets of paper together. 10 by 1 is quite an ... odd ratio.

Is this a really complex
Is this a really complex model, or does it just take a lot of time? Because in the description of the model, it says "High Intermediate"

Not simple, but not complex either
It's not a really complex model.

Paper choice
I've only folded this model once, so I can't really say which paper I prefer.
The Kraft paper I used for this was very low quality, and I don't particularly recommend it. In general, though, I believe Kraft paper works ok. Using foil / tissue foil will probably give a nice and robust model, so I'd probably try that.
You can make your own tissue foil, but that may be hard considering how long the paper will have to be. It should be much easier to buy some foil paper at origami-shop.com. Thankfully, they do sell rolls of foil paper, so that's very convenient. They also deliver paper to the US.
I think you can comfortably fold the model from 7in by 70in, and the roll of foil is 394in by 19.7in - so plenty enough.
Hope this helps,

7 by 70
i tried 7 by 70 paper (unless im wrong) and it was to small

Then use larger paper :)
Well, then try 10in by 100in. :) Everyone has a different size that they prefer for folding. It may be that your comfort level is at slightly larger paper than mine is.

Not seriously
Thought about it yes, seriously considered it - no. That's mostly because I only have that much time, and therefore can't fold everything I'd want to try out.

Try an origami forum instead
It's better to ask these kind of questions in an origami forum, e.g. http://snkhan.co.uk/...
There a whole community of people can reach out and help, and you'll probably get an answer faster than here. It has another advantage of being more accessible to others, who may seek help with those steps.
(Sorry, am busy with the final wedding prep, and won't be able to answer this in the next 2 or more weeks.)

Paper
Is Kraft paper a good paper to use for this model? I am thinking about folding this, but I can't decide which paper...
