Origami Instructions: Traditional Lotus Flower

For a bit of fun, Tadashi Mori and I decided to make a video together. Watch the video to check what I mean by making a video together...

I just finished watching the video, and it is actually quite diffrent from the model of the lotus flower that I folded, I could give you "Over the phone" instructions (All text instructions), but I'm not sure the origional creator of the model would appreciate that......

Tadashi sent me his video, and I then recorded my part, trying to imitate his hand and paper positions. I then edited the video. My hands seem a bit reddish, because I had to adjust the colour - my sheet was more yellow, his yellow-orange. I also had to rotate the video here and there, or resize the video. That's partly why my parts are lower quality, I zoomed in by 400% to get the same size model as Tadashi - but zooming in that much after recording isn't the best idea. ;)

Well, after watching the video I concluded that making an origami is quite difficult. I have learn making origami before but it seems different in the video that i have watched. The video gives information and educates the viewers to do something with their exists papers. In origami you are using papers, it might be colored or not. In this way we can also help in preserving our nature in making use of exists papers into origami styles and by not throwing it anywhere. The video is highly educational in line in arts and it is creative.

I was wondering what type of paper i should buy for origami, maybe a few types? For complex models and quit simple ones like this one. I've bought "Melissa & Doug" Origami paper and i really don't like it.. Everything i make with it, it's either to slippery or for smaller projects like this one the paper rips cause it can't handle all the folds. But for the Origami Fiery Dragon instructions ( Kade Chan) i know that one has some complex folds. I was just hoping you could lead me in the right way on what paper to use. I'd like bigger sheets cause id rather have a big sheet of paper that i could cut down to length. Not sure if you see all your comments but i hope you see this one >_<. I've searched for days on great folding Origami paper that's excellent for complex models. But I've found none.

As you already mentioned, not all paper is suitable for all models. For complex folds, I recommend double tissue: http://www.happyfold...
I also recommend pretty much all paper sold at Origami Shop. The plain origami paper is of a good quality and they have some really nice papers for display models. Also, they have sheets to a relatively large size, lots in 35cm squares (13.75 in), and some stuff up to at least 60cm squares (23.6 in). There might also be larger paper, I'm not sure right now.
