Books!

Have you ever wondered which books are in my origami shelf?
I had published a somewhat hidden list, which got quite unorganized (or at least not very accessible) when my origami library grew. So I decided to add a new section to this website, which not only lists the books I own, but also has some interesting data on them.

So, for the curious, you can check out which books I own at http://www.happyfold...
I tried to add some interesting information, such as a picture of the cover, the author, the publisher, and the number of pages and models. Where available, I also added links to shops that sell the book (e.g. Amazon), the table of contents on the Origami Database, and Gilad's excellent book reviews.

Disclaimer: I haven't quite added all the books I own yet, and haven't even started with the booklets yet, but it's a start.

I was wondering how much it costs to go to a convention usually. I live in the US and REALLY want to go to one. Any help is appreciated!!!!

I cannot easily answer that. Convention costs differ depending on which one it is, and whether you are a member of the hosting society. And of couse travel, food and lodging need to be paid for (unless you're from the area or can stay with friends). You'll have to check the costs for the convention you're interested in.
For information on some of the larger origami conventions in the US check http://www.origami-u... - e.g. PCOC 2009 cost $195 for meals and classes (Thursday to Sunday night), lodging and travel not included.

Sara i just saw your comment here and i can't exactly understand what do you mean ith the classes you mean you have to pay to learn to fold a model? That's insane

All conventions I've been to had no extra charge for classes. That is, the cost was already included in the convention fee. I've heard that some conventions charge extra for some classes, but I think it's rather uncommon. However, it's good to be aware of the fact that the talks and classes need to be financed, and that the convention fee is there to cover such costs.

hi, right now i am working on an origami book myself. maybe when its done i could send it to you before publishing so you could test fold them for me?so far i have 4 models which are a giraffe, camel, fox and a striped zebra.if anyone wants to participate in this book just reply with the details of the model and creator and then send me the diagrams after.

Whoever you are, maybe you want to send me an email with details? I'd be happy to test-fold your diagrams (as long as you don't need them folded within a day or two).

An amazing collection, congrats! May I make a simple suggestion, a "next" link to the next book so we don't have to go back to the main library page, it would make it a bit faster to review. Kudos on your diverse collection, I really enjoy checking out your site to see what you have planned next for us, thanks!
