Some updates!

You might have noticed that some parts of the website have changed:

  • Yesterday I diagramed my first model! It's a primula by Mitsonubu Sonobe. Hopefully I'll find the time to diagram other models, and I've set up a diagrams area for this.
  • The techniques section has moved to instructions. To view only technique videos, just filter for basic folds.
  • You can now filter for all animal models, and I've added some more animal sub-categories (dinosaurs, anthropods, molluscs).
  • I've added some vlog videos, and created an area for animations.
  • Most playlists now also have a thumbnail.

Hi there! I like the design, and the page. But sometimes I can't figure out which menu item I have to click to get to where I want to go. Why, for example, is the BOS video under reviews, when BOS is a convention? And what is meant by 'vlog' or 'animations'? Why is there no menu item 'Videos'? I keep looking for 'videos' in the menu...

How about this:
menu: home diagrams videos gallery links contact
All one-time stuff (the BOS, random videos, random reviews), I would put on the 'home'-page as blog articles.

After your comment I rethought my menu structure again. I had specific reasons for the previous structure, but agree that it was a bit overloaded. Also, the page has been developing slightly differently than I thought.

I didn't exactly do what you proposed, but did change it around a bit:
I merged the gallery of my folds and the gallery of pictures I took at conventions. Both are now in the gallery. If anyone wants to see the models I folded, they can filter by folder 'Adams, Sara', and that'll do the job.
I also merged the reviews, animations, and vlog posts into a section including all noninstructional videos. I haven't done as much for these sections as I thought I would. I'll have to see when I find the time to do some reviews...

I hope this clears up what's where anyways.

I think that you should let other people suggest other videos or images for the site, so that the contents contain more people's work. other than this, the page is great.

This has already been done in many instances. Quite a few videos posted here were made due to suggestions from viewers. There are a couple of restrictions, though:
I obviously have to know how to fold the model. Less obviously, I have to be able to contact the designer and get permission for the video. Unfortunately, that's not always as easy as one would like. I have also had a designer reject my proposition.
Basically: Yes, I'm happy to get suggestions, but there's no guarantee I'll make a video on them. I hope you all understand this.

Hi!
I love what you do, posting origami videos. I was wondering, where is the Kawasaki Rose video? I did it once, but the video is no longer available... Where can I find it?

Kind regards,
Ian L.

Dear Ian,

Unfortunately, thus far I haven't been able to contact Toshikazu Kawasaki to ask for his permission for the videos you are hinting at. I did send him emails, but possibly he is not using that email address anymore - or simply gets too many queries concerning his models to keep up with them.
Until I hear back from Toshikazu, I fear, any videos on his models will not be publicly available.

I hope you understand,

-- Sara

Hi Sara.

I did the Kawasaki Rose from other sources :)
Now I was thinking if it is possible to join a rose with a Hydrangea. That would be really nice! I will keep thinking in a way to do this, but my origami skills are not good enough for such quest ;)

Is there a basic form where we can insert under the rose?
That would be easier, to know the result and trying to modify the hydrangea to that form.

Have a nice day!

Cheers,
Ian L.

Hi Ian,

I'm not sure what you mean by joining a rose with a hydrangea. Could you explain further?

-- Sara

I was thinking of making a Calyx to the rose with the Hydrangea.
Something like a base to the rose.

Kind Regards,
Ian L.
