Origami Tutorial: Hydrangea Ribbon Box (Dáša Ševerová and Shuzo Fujimoto)

Very nice box! I think it's a bit too tight, just my opinion. The craft paper is very nice, but isn't it too thick to work with? With all the layers it must have been tough to fold.

Do you know if the designer Dasa has published a book? Amazing that you know by heart how to fold so many models ;-)
I am looking for the book from Fujimoto but I cannot find it. Any tips are welcome :-)

thanks again for video. nice and good for learning. I have one question: I used 2 35x35 squares but the lid come out a little smaller. then I made with36x36 and again small or the same size. then I made 37x37. this time ok. what do u think about it? why such kind of things happen?

It might be the paper thickness. But when folding the box you can adjust some creases to make it smaller instead of using larger paper. Check step 68 of Dasa's photo diagrams: https://www.flickr.c...

I check it and it was my fault, in "box" folding at one point we must fold to the upper line of central square and I fold to the center so it makes the width larger. After removing the error everything goes on right track.

Dear Mrs Sara Adams, I did some calculations on this beautiful origami. The results are as below:
If a is the length of primary square then the dimensions of the box body is (3*a/16 x 3*a/16 x a/8) and the dimensions of the lid will be (3*a/16 x 3*a/16 x 3*a/32).

Dear Sara,

I have been a longtime fan of your instructional videos! The Dennis Walker snowflake is one of my favorites. I was able to use your tutorial to make the regular hydrangea box from 25cm origami paper but have so far been unsuccessful in folding the hydrangea ribbon box. The papers I tried haven't collapsed nicely; they have crumpled instead. I can't seem to find the recommended Kraft paper at either of the sites listed in the review. Do you know of other places I might be able to purchase it online, or can you recommend any other papers that might work well for this model? JAM PAPER gift wrap looks similar on Amazon, but I think it is quite a bit heavier than the paper you used.

Hi Lillian, "Jillson Roberts Double-Sided Gift Wrap" on Amazon shows me results that look like the paper I used - look for the one with the distinct lines on the reverse side. I am not sure about the weight, but I have recommended it to others in the past and heard back that the model worked with it nicely. -- Sara
